- Crystal Cells are sold in pairs. A single cell has an ambient voltage of approx: 1,5Volts. The Crystal Cells are wired in series to increase the voltage because the attached LED needs about 2,5Volts to work. At 25 degrees Celsius one 280g Cell generates approx: 3mA at 1,2Volts.

- The wiring of the Crystal Cell may be put off so each cell can be investigated individually. Up to now the only test found that destroys the cell is heating it above 45 degrees Celsius over a longer period. Cooling down to 200 degrees minus with liquid nitrogen or continuing dead shorts are no problem. Recommended operating temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. Best operating load is a load that pulls down the voltage to 1,25Volts only.

The Crystal Cell is a capacitor like device that generates a steady electric current.

Concerning its basic construction, the Crystal Cell is similar to an electrolytic capacitor which contains a solid polycrystalline silicate instead of an electrolyte.

The function of the Crystal Cell is related to a solar cell. Instead of sun light coherent quantum fluctuations are used to create a charge separation.

The emission free Crystal Cell can generate a direct electric current over an unknown period of time (since 1999). Within the Crystal Cell processes play a role, which are similar to a hydropower plant. Just like a hydropower plant draws its energy from the flow of water the Crystal Cell draws its energy from an external source of energy. Our hypothesis is, that the Crystal Cell extracts energy from the quantum vacuum. The power output is today at (10mW/kg/25°C).

The polycrystalline silicate contains nano-structures. The manufacturing process of the silicate includes a complex chemical reaction.



The Crystal Cell is sold to everyone who is interested to learn about the unique Crystal Cell effects.

We are especially looking for buyers that have the intention to do independent measurements on the Cells. The data from these measurements shall be made and discussed publicly. This will further prove or disprove the hypothesis and gain support and understanding of the novel phenomena. Customers will gain entry level membership status to the co-operative and will be able to upload their test data which others can plug into extensibly.

We also hope that the general public and philanthropists who are serious in their desire to support new energy technologies will review the material and buy Crystal Cells to support the inventor and this co-operative to continue their work gaining validation in the scientific community.



The income from the sales of The Crystal Cells will go towards the establishment of a laboratory for research and a Crystal Cell manufacturing facility. The laboratory plan is set out in the
Executive Summary and Research Plan. Goal of the research is to increase the power output in so far, that a broad section within the energy economy can be supplied with Crystal Cells. Partners for financing are welcome.

The laboratory plan shown in the Executive Summary that is for the physical research on the Crystal Cell has been done by Dr. Frank Lichtenberg who has built the departments for chemistry and physics at the University of Augsburg and the ETH in Zürich. The inventor Marcus Reid has participated in developing a new theoretical approach that explains how conventional electromagnetic systems work from the virtual photon and broken symmetry point of view. For a detailed explanation see the essays on the website

According to standard quantum electrodynamics theory the electromagnetic interaction is transmitted and created by virtual photons. Since these virtual photons appear from seemingly empty space-time (quantum vacuum) just like that, a new possibility for a theory arises that explains how the energy flows in a conventional electric circuit, meaning that the electromagnetic energy comes from space-time itself.

Following this view all conventional electromagnetic systems are in relation to the energetic exchange towards the quantum vacuum energetically open systems. So the actual reason why electromagnetic systems behave like closed systems (energy is conserved) has to do with a mechanism that is labeled the “self-symmetrizing mechanism in electromagnetic systems”.


Going from there Reid developed a model that explains how this self-symmetrizing mechanism can be bypassed. The result is an electromagnetic system that is not only an open system but also behaves like an open system. Such an electromagnetic system uses the quantum vacuum as an external source of energy and is able to generate negentropy, sometimes known as ectropy.

One experimental approach to realize this vision is the Crystal Cell. The idea of The Crystal Cell is to create a solar cell like device that uses coherent quantum fluctuations instead of sunlight to create a charge separation.

Quantum fluctuations create vibrations upon atoms. Since these vibrations are very small they are usually ignored in relation to the conservation of energy. Reid’s idea is to control the vacuum fluctuations in such a way, that the fluctuations upon many atoms do the same thing at the same time building up the energy from trillions of atoms using nano-technology. The energy from these coherent quantum fluctuations is then used to create a charge separation.

The Crystal Cell consists of two dissimilar metal electrodes that have a silicate material in between. The contact surfaces between the silicate and electrodes create diodes. The diodes are facing into the same direction creating a one-way road for electrons.

The alkaline silicate consists of crystalline bound water. (An alkaline silicate was chosen because an alkaline material has many electrons at disposal) Small chains and clusters of water molecules in the silicate nano-caves have the tendency to self-oscillate in a coherent way. The self-oscillation is used to trigger an electron tunneling current between neighboring silicate molecules. The tunneling current conducts the energy created by the oscillation and pushes the electrons back and forth. This results in a high frequency alternating current (AC), which is then rectified to direct current (DC) by the diodes.

Following Reid’s hypothesis the self-oscillation of the water molecule is not only created by thermal energy. Reid believes that the water molecule resonating with its own electromagnetic field also causes the self-oscillation. And since the electromagnetic field from the water molecule already exists as a broken symmetry of the quantum vacuum and a broken symmetry is made up from oriented virtual photons, in this way energy flows into the Crystal Cell from the quantum vacuum.

The objective of current research is to further prove Reid’s hypothesis. If Reid’s hypothesis is at work in the Crystal Cell then individual characteristics especially in the high radio frequency range are expected. Several such characteristics and resonance effects where found by independent researchers which are briefly described in the survey report, that is also on the above mentioned website.

It shall be mentioned that electrochemical effects also play a role in the Crystal Cell. However the aim of the research is to further suppress electrochemistry and to increase the quantum vacuum energy extraction process. Due to corrosion effects the power output of the Crystal Cell can slightly decrease over time but it does not drop to zero.


The Crystal Cell Theory and Experimentation Series:

In series part 8 we introduce the co-operative and list of priorities that one can begin helping complete with regard to testing and developing modular add-ons to get a better understanding of the phenomena.



A short description of the most important measurements:

The power output is highly dependent on the ambient temperature. That is why it was assumed that the Crystal Cell converts the ambient temperature into electric energy. Up to now calorimetric measurements do not support this assumption since there is no corresponding cooling or heating under load.

Crystal Cells in a Faraday cage show a broadband radio signal upon the voltage. The amplitude of an arbitrarily chosen frequency can change when the power output and/or temperature changes.

The discharge and self-recharge voltage-curve shows a cyclic behavior.

The self-recharge curve indicates that the charge separation does not only occur at the surfaces of the electrodes but throughout the silicate material at the same time.

The silicate material is a solid. X-ray diffraction analysis of the material shows silicates that are not known to ion conduct at room temperature. The silicates are no redox materials (chemical reactants).

At specific temperatures and loads the Crystal Cells show resonance effects with an unknown source (no conventional external source) that can increase or decrease the power output. Therefore it is assumed that drawing the power in a cyclic way could increase the power output.

The Crystal Cell rather behaves like a current source instead of a voltage source. This observation suggests that the Crystal Cell has a fixed charge separating speed that is linked to a vibrating source.

Taken together the measurements indicate, that the generated electric energy is related to vibrations within the silicate material. The first Crystal Cells were developed in 1999. The total energy generated between 1999 and 2013 exceeds commercial Lithium Ion batteries of the same size.
